What We Believe

Our Statement of Faith

These truths are not new. They are the faith once delivered to the saints, drawn straight from the word of God.

The Holy Scriptures

We believe the Bible is the final authority for everything we believe and do. It was given by the inspiration of God and is without error, and the God who breathed out His word has kept His promise to preserve it. He has preserved His word in the Authorized (King James) Version. Man is not to live by bread alone, but “by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” As such, we aim to feed upon each and every word of the King James Bible. (2 Timothy 3:16, Matthew 4:4, Psalm 12:6–7, Isaiah 40:8)

The Godhead

We believe in one true and living God, eternally existing in three persons (the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost). (1 John 5:7, Matthew 28:19)

God the Creator

We believe God made all things in heaven and earth, both visible and invisible, and that He holds the whole of creation together by the word of His power. (Genesis 1:1, Colossians 1:16–17, Hebrews 1:3)

The Lord Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh. His body was born of a virgin, He lived perfectly without sin, He was crucified for sinners, and He was raised bodily from the dead. He is coming again to receive His church to Himself, and afterward to return and establish His kingdom. (1 Timothy 3:16, John 1:14, 1 Corinthians 15:3–4)

Salvation for Whosoever Will

We believe God desires every man and woman to be saved, and that the gospel is offered freely to all. Salvation comes by grace through faith in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ, with no human work or merit added to it. Whosoever will may come, yet not all are saved, for each one must personally receive Him. (1 Timothy 2:3–4, 2 Peter 3:9, Ephesians 2:8–9, John 1:12, Romans 10:13)

Eternal Security

We believe that the moment a person trusts Christ he becomes a child of God forever, sealed by the Holy Spirit, who teaches and comforts him until the day of redemption. What God has secured cannot be lost. (Ephesians 4:30, John 1:12, John 10:28–29, Philippians 1:6)

Believer's Baptism

We believe baptism is for those who have already trusted Christ. Water baptism is a public testimony of a salvation already received, picturing His death, burial, and resurrection. When the Ethiopian asked, “what doth hinder me to be baptized?” the answer put belief first: “If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest.” Water baptism adds nothing to salvation and does not make one a member of the church. (Acts 8:36–37, Romans 6:4)

The Local Church

We believe that salvation makes a person a member of the body of Christ, and that believers are to gather together in a local church to worship, to grow, and to minister one to another. (1 Corinthians 12:13, Hebrews 10:24–25, Acts 2:41–42)

Evangelism & Missions

We believe every Christian is responsible to carry the good news of Christ to others. The Lord Jesus Christ gave a Great Commission that the gospel be preached to every creature. Therefore, it is our mission to preach the gospel to every creature. Every individual believer has that mission, and we also believe that the local church ought to support missionaries in both foreign and domestic fields. (Mark 16:15, Acts 1:8, Romans 10:14–15)

A Holy, Separated Life

We believe the saved are called to be separate from the world, holy in mind and body. Yet right living does not come by the keeping of rules; it flows from an inner change of heart. We give our attention first to that inward condition, trusting the outward life to follow. (Romans 12:1–2, 2 Corinthians 6:17, 1 Samuel 16:7)

Heaven and Hell

We believe in a literal heaven and a literal hell. Those who reject the Lord Jesus Christ will be eternally separated from God in the conscious torment of the lake of fire, while those who receive Him will dwell forever in the glorious presence of God. (Revelation 20:15, Revelation 21:8, John 14:1–3)

The Blessed Hope

We believe in the blessed hope of the Lord Jesus Christ gathering His church together unto Himself before the tribulation period. God will not pour out His wrath upon the bride of Christ. The same Saviour who loved the church and gave Himself for it will not turn and pour the judgments reserved for a Christ-rejecting world upon His bride. The church has been saved from wrath, not appointed to it, for God hath “not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Thessalonians 5:9). Therefore, we believe the Lord will catch away His church before the day of the Lord’s wrath, and we wait for “that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ” (Titus 2:13, 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17, 2 Thessalonians 2:1)
